Apex 460 Grounding Problem?

Post by mpedrummer » Wed Apr 22, 2009 7:42 pm

Hey guys -

I seem to have a grounding issue with my modded 460. There's a hum, and if I touch just the body of the mic, the hum gets MUCH louder. If, however, I touch the body of the mic and the shell of the XLR end, the hum all but disappears. I really have to crank the pre to hear any evidence of it.

What's likely to be wrong? Is there a "best" way to fix it?

Thanks
Tim

Mic body has lost good continuity with ground. Not sure where it is done on this mic; possibly where the PCBs screw to the chassis, or at the XLR plug.

Yup, thanks. The screws weren't tight enough on the PCB. Little embarrassed I didn't think of that, but hey, that's what Imaginary Internet Friends are for!
