Gear of "classic" UK studios...

Post by smythology » Tue Apr 28, 2009 1:24 am

No, I don't know what they are/were. But some years ago I stumbled on some websites that sold vintage recording magazines from the 60-70s and they mentioned the mags had articles on studios like AIR, Phillips Sound, DE Lane Lea, Trident, etc.

For the life of me, I can't remember what the magazines we're called. And finding information like this seems to get more and more difficult (except Abbey Road gear, of course) since many of these studios no longer exist...who the heck does one write to?

Can anyone point my way of pro recording mags of that era? Or any other way of finding this kind of info? Maybe Tape Op back issues....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillips'_ ... ces#Studio

I found that in one second using google.

There were a couple of mags from back in the day, like "recording", but I dont know which ones had features specifically on the studios you are talking about. They are pretty well documented , though, so I bet you can find it using something super secret like GOOGLE.... :)
