I used to use a deucetone (dual rat) for that. I would set up one side as a clean rat. Which is a slightly grtty clean boost. Then the second channel was all drivey.
The RAt with the dist dialed back sounds kind of nice. A barely simmering edge on stuff.

I've looked into these a bit now - positive reviews all around, good sound clips, and much cheaper than all the other rangemaster clones out there - $110 at one online source! Tone shaping options to boot! I think I'm going to risk it and order one.
