Avalon u5 placement

Post by Z MINOR SOUND » Thu May 07, 2009 3:17 pm

So I'm pluggin in my pres and di's in my new control room (was in a garage before).

I'm wondering if it would be best to put my u5 in the live room where we can keep the instrument cabling shorter and run the balanced cabling back into the control room, or go with a longer instrument cable ran from the live room back to the control room to keep the u5 safe and sound next to me.

I'd kindly appreciate any input.

I would go with a short instrument cable. High impeance ran long distance has more noise issues and will affect the sound more. (Mostly high end loss due to the capicitance of the cable.)

Agreed, it's small enough to be mobile.
Everything louder than everything else.

I almost want to rack it high up on the wall to avoid some careless bassie from spilling his drink on it.
