Behringer Denoiser

Post by premiumdan » Tue Jun 02, 2009 1:08 pm

HissOp:

Behringer Denoiser (not the newer "pro" version) --

Okay, I bought this thing years ago in hopes of making cassette-dubs a
bit less hissy. Unpacked the box, plugged it in, turned it on, LED's lit up,
turned it off, unplugged it, put it back in the box, stuffed the box in the closet...
Never actually tried it, and now the re-sale value is (MAYBE!) 25% of what I paid for it new.

Are these any good, and for what?
Yeah, I know some people wouldn't use Behringer gear for doorstops, but...

Thanks!

IIRC, they're single-ended NR.

they're supposed to be great for removing hiss from electric guitars.

It's one of the few pieces of Behringer gear that I've ever found useful. Still a terrible, deplorable company in terms of business practices (there, I said it), but yeah, that and maybe two other pieces of gear they make are worth anything to me.

Single-ended?

Post by premiumdan » Wed Jun 03, 2009 5:52 am

I remember seeing the term "single-ended" in the manual/on the box.
There are two channels = double-ended! *joking*

This means no sidechain or whatnot, as compressors might have, yes?

Thanks.

Their circuit boards are some of the best on the market. I've had alot of equip apart and their boards are definitely in the Top 3%.

There are some other very, big names that complete suck from this standpoint.

Don't believe those that bash this equipment.

I no longer have mine, but I actually found it really, really useful. I used it mostly on DI'ed Wurlitzer. I finally ended up denoising the Wurli itself with some copper foil and new caps, but the Denoiser actually was pretty great.

I felt highly unnatural solving a problem by not buying gear, but maybe I'll get used to it!

I don't get it...

You bought this box years ago, stuffed it in your closet, now you've dug it out and are asking an online forum what it's for and how does it sound?

Why don't you try just plugging it in and using it to find out for yourself how it sounds and what it does?

Is it just me? or...
