OK so Ive reseurrected my old TEAC 3340s it sounds pretty darn good but there is a noticable noise floor ... should I get a Noise Reduction unit for it? If so what kind? Or would a calibration fix this?

Never had noise reduction on mine. Everything that was available at the time seemed to make things dull. I just lived with it.

You may not have enough bias voltage to align the 3340S to the newer tape formulations. I got mine aligned to 456 but was not able to get enough overbias for 499. I sold it years ago. DBX Type 1 would be the NR unit of chice for the machine, but the calibration has to be right on the money or it'll sound like a bad compressor.
