http://www.readyacoustics.com/index.php ... ducts_id=8

6 panels 2x4 and 2" thick for $129
?

this website has the easy fix for guys like me that can tell you how ot super impose tritone substitutions over a standard chord progression...but don't own a hammer !

sorry, even with all the damn info on the tape op board and all the leads, I really don't have time to make calls and drive or email various companies to see if they'll sell me a few pieces of this stuff
I wish they had it at home depot as a standard...
I still don't know what the common price for this stuff is

thanks

That seems steep to me, from what I remember. I need to buy some myself from a local distributor this week (I bought from them before and seem to remember it being a lot cheaper than that). If you haven't gotten some already I'll tell you what I paid.

That price seems in the ballpark for small quantity purchases. I bought 2'x4' one-inch pieces last year for about $9 each. Yours are twice the thickness, so 6*18=$108 + a few bucks for the oil wars & goldman sachs.

cool so I'm only wasting about $20 to have an easy online order that ships to my home

check atsacoustics.com too. I think I paid less than that for their bulk mineral wool.

That sounds pretty high. But, it also sounds like you're willing to pay it for the convenience.

I hesitate to say anything because they are my competitors.

But the reality is, shipping costs are what will kill you. Make sure you find out the total WITH shipping, and then compare that with local prices.

I made the mistake of ordering some Ultratouch online years ago. Shortly after I bought it, I discovered a local dealer selling it for about 1/3 of what I paid after shipping.

But others are right, if convenience is more important to you than money, then by all means order. :)

I just bought a bunch of mineral wool and OC 703 this week. Here's what I paid:

12 sheets of 2'x4'x2" OC 703: $1.21 / sq ft ($9.68/sheet)
15 sheets of 2'x4'x4" 8pcf Mineral Wool: $1 / sq ft ($8/sheet)

Now those are still considered small quantities, so I didn't get any bulk discount. I priced out Johns Manville's equivalent product, and it was $1.08 / sq ft, but I would have had to wait 3 weeks for it to come in at my local supplier.
I would expect 705 to cost about 40% more than 703 because it's about 40% more dense and theoretically uses 40% more material. That would bring the ballpark price to about $1.70 / sq ft, or $13.60 per sheet. That place is selling it for $21.67 per sheet, not including shipping. I don't know what they're charging for shipping, but 60lbs from MN to my house would cost about another $40 via UPS ground.
So that's $50 more than the going rate just for the product, plus another $40 for shipping. I know I'm not making $90 / hr, which is about as long as it would take to call a few local places and drive there to pick it up.

I got a John Manville equivalent, IS300, in Burbank, I think at Viking Insulation, for a decent price (don't remember what, somewhere around 1/2, but I'm sure they'll tell you if you call) after spending about $19 per 2" sheet for OC703 at CWCI in the City of Industry.

I will go back to Viking for more insulation as I need it. They were nice... and close.
