My M-Audio fast track ultra 8r came without a power supply
I bought it new on ebay, but it came with an AC cord instead of the DC power supply. The booklet says it was supposed to come with a 9VDC 4000mA power supply, the plug in the back says 3.5A. I'mhaving trouble locating any information regarding this adaptor
Record it before you forget it. You can always record it better later.
You do need a 9VDC centre-positive power supply that's rated at least 3.5amps. If you can find a generic one with those specs and the right size plug, you'll be good to go.
Did the eBay listing say that it came with the power supply? If so, I'd try contacting the seller to see if they can rectify the situation.
P.S. Found this in the online manual:
NOTE: Fast Track Ultra 8R is designed to work with 9V DC power supplies with
a 3.5 - 4A rating. If you need to purchase an additional power supply for your
Fast Track Ultra 8R, be sure to buy one with the correct rating and polarity. Replacement power supplies are available at the M-Audio webstore.

this link does not go to the item, having a hard time finding the power supply on their website. I haven't heard back from the seller, I got it a while ago and only just now have had the time to check it outctmsound wrote:http://store.m-audio.com/us/index.cfm?p ... egoryid=52

The booklet says it's a 4000mA supply, I don't see that or any mention of the fast track ultra 8r for that matter on that page

Now I got it working, but...
for some reason I can't get it to record a mic level signal, even though I got it specifically because it has preamps already. It records fine with a line level input. The only software I have that I can figure out at the moment is Reaper. I have cubase too but can make no sense of it.

I've done that before....
