I don't think Wilco make a huge amount of money (although I'm sure they do alright), I think it's just an indication that the band puts their earnings back into harbouring a place that encourages music and creativity. Most bands just spend it all on more temporary "investments".

This is very true. Lots of other musicians ask me where I get all my stuff. Well I wanted it, so I worked, then I bought it. If you gt 4 or 5 guys together with the same idea you multiply tht effect.
But seriously, those guys have every pedal and every guitar ever.
AND a Neve sidecar.

Yes, Wilco makes a ton of money in rock band standards. It probably cost at least $75K to book them, plus whatever they make in merchandise sale, record sales, however much Volkswagen paid them to use half of Sky Blue Sky in various commercials, ect...In 2008 to book Jeff Tweedy solo was 10-15K.

Yeah, Wilco is a well oiled money making machine by now. They sell out nearly every show they play, and tickets aren't cheap (but they're worth every penny). It's fine if they make a ton of money, good for them. They deserve it.

Yup. Those are Jim's for sure. We recorded piano on Tamar Kaprelian's record with the Paul & Ringo sidecar. Those flaming KRK's showed up in a couple studios too. Only thing missing from the photo is Jim's portable Grammy button...

I asked this question once before - but in I Am trying to Break Your Heart at about the 13 minute mark there's a shot of Jay Bennett playing a keyboard that in turn plays an old piano. It looks to be some kind of electromechanical interface. Does anyone know anything about this thing and what it's doing?

I vaguely remember that scene. I am pretty sure it was just a Rhodes with the top off. I'm going to go dig out that DVD, I haven't watched it in a long time. It will be weird to watch now that Jay has passed...
