Nice!

But I believe Frank Zappa is still in the lead with a spider, an extinct mollusk, a fish, a jellyfish, a strain of bacteria, and an asteroid.

Cramming his whole name in there is really cheesy nomenclature though. Heteropoda Bowie looks a lot better, IMHO. Even Heteropoda Bowi/Bowiei or Heteropoda Bowae/Bowieae are better. Heteropoda Davidbowie is pretty bush-league.

Oops. Looks like I called the Thin White Duke a girl. Here's an update from someone who holds 2 degrees in zoology:

"OK. 1. that is sweeet! 2. the usual nomenclature would be "bowiei" or "bowieii", as the suffix -ae usually denotes either a feminine name or a plural (singular: antenna, plural: antennae).
A suffix of -i denotes a masculine name. I'm not sure of the significance of the two i's (as in Terrapene carolina baurii and Clemmys muhlenbergii, named after Bauer and Muhlenberg, respectively) but I'd like to find out.

But, when you discover a species you get to name it pretty much whatever you want so long as it follows some basic rules. So davidbowie it is!"

I heard he's going to headline next summer's "Monsters of Taxonomy" tour.
