Demeter compressors (?)

Post by losthighway » Fri Oct 16, 2009 7:48 pm

Anyone ever use these things/ know anything about them? I've seen a couple of their 2 channel tube units used around town for less than most comparable things. I read an old online review that tried to call it a poor mans LA2-A but that's hard to invest a lot of faith into.

I've got an early VTCL-2. It's a cool compressor, but not an all-around workhorse and more of a very colored flavor. Sounds a bit like a cross between an LA-2 and an LA-3. Sounds great on some stuff like bass electric guitar, keys, some vocals). Sounds not very good on others like kick or snare, room mics, acoustic guitar or other stuff with lots of fast transients. It seems really well made, has never given me a problem in the almost 5 years I've owned it, and James is a really nice guy. Talked with him on the phone a few times about it and a few other pieces of gear and he was super helpful and friendly.
