Apogee Rosetta AD, MOTU 24 i/o, and SPDIF... Please Help!

Post by squaresteve » Thu Oct 29, 2009 9:56 pm

Hey,

This might be a dumb question...

I recently came into an Apogee Rosetta AD for free :), one of the older ones... It has a SPDIF output.

I currently have a MOTU 24 i/o, which does not have a SPDIF input...

What can I do in order to use the two in conjunction with each other? Or, at the very least, what can I do to actually use the Rosetta on its own?

Until this point I never really saw myself using multiple converters at the same time, or at least not using dedicated converters that weren't completely interfaced individually with my computer, thus, my confusion...

Do I need to get something that will accept the signal from the Rosetta and turn it into something useable ITB? Can I get something that does specifically that, and doesn't include any actual A/D D/A converters, etc? And if so, what would that be?

Thanks in advance.
Steve

Anything with a S/PDIF input. Could be a card, could be USB, FW, etc. Granted - Whatever it is will probably have its own converters, but by using the S/PDIF in, you're effectively bypassing them.
