You'll have to keep searching to find how to thread it correctly ..maybe a youtube vid or something.

As for tape ..if its old and leaving debris on your tape path, you'll need to get a new roll.

As for slow fast-forward or rewind speeds, that can be dirty tape or warn out motors. If "play" works ok, then you might need to help the ff and rewind manually with your hands. I do this often, its second nature.

As a tape recorder user, I have / and or have had all those problems and more ..and deal with it the best I can.
