Although those are more 'fuzzes' than overdrives. They do also make a clean boost.Hallogallo wrote:Barge Concepts makes a Harmonic Percolator clone, the DB1, and a couple different Roland BeeBa clones that are in your price range.

Dunno if you're into diy... But my favorite boost and od that I have - I made myself. I buy the pcbs at www.generalguitargadgets.com and then pick up the components from www.smallbearelec.com.
Tis cheap - and chicks dig it when you make them stuff.

Timmy is like a month waiting list so you would not be able to have it be Xmas. Awesome sounding pedal though.cgarges wrote:The Hotcake is definitely a cool pedal.
There's also an awesome boost pedal called a Timmy. I can't recall who makes it, but it's a boutique thing with a waiting list. It's an incredible boost pedal with really useful tone controls and the ability to just give you "more" of whatever you want. That thing gets A LOT of use at our place.

OK, sorry to reveal more secrets, but I think if you order directly from Paul Crowther, you can get it for around 150 (or maybe less), including air shipping from New Zealand. His email address is croth@clear.net.nz (I don't think he has a website or anything like that but he is always good about answering email). I don't work for him or get kickbacks or anything, I'm just a happy owner of 3 of his pedals (Hotcake, Double Hotcake and Prunes & Custard).kuene wrote:stop blabbing our Hotcake secret! seriously though, Crowther Hotcake is the best pedal I've ever owned -had it for about 4 years now i think. i plan on getting a backup in case i lose it. it is hands down the warmest, most responsive overdrive i've ever heard. i doubt you'd find one under 150 though.

How is the double Hotcake? I've been intrigued by that.jv wrote:OK, sorry to reveal more secrets, but I think if you order directly from Paul Crowther, you can get it for around 150 (or maybe less), including air shipping from New Zealand. The Chuck Collins Harmonic Percolator is also an awesome pedal that will do the subtle boost thing well. When it's cranked-up, it's kind of an oddball-sounding distortion and one that I love, but maybe not for everyone.Hallogallo wrote:Barge Concepts makes a Harmonic Percolator clone, the DB1, and a couple different Roland BeeBa clones that are in your price range.[/img]

Voodoo Lab's Sparkle Drive is cool also. A TS808 and a clean boost in one box.

Fulltone Full Drive 2 is amazing.
I have one of those new Hardwire overdrives that's pretty cool too.

Fulltone OCD
is one of my favorites. I've tried most of those mentioned, and while they do the boost part, the OD tonal quality is lacking to my ears.
