Dunlop Crybaby Mods
Hey People,
I'm starting to be of the opinion that all guitar parts should be played through a wah, even if it's just set in one place. The problem is that my wah sounds pretty lame. It's a stock crybaby that my wife bought me about 10 years ago. I was googling and came across this page that seems to make sense to me.

I'm particularly interested in True Bypass, gain and vocal mods. Does doing the stuff on that page look like a good idea? Are there any kits out there that would make this easier/better?
Thanks,

Mine is a new model but tweaked up a bit. I used the red fasel inductor, that's needed as the stock inductor is too wide sounding. I replaced the .01 caps with Wima FKP-1. All resistors are Dale RN55. The noisy transistors are swapped to Hitachi 2SC2545 or Toshiba 2SC3329, that eliminates the hiss.
I used panasonic FM electrolytic caps. I left in the buffer, not a problem. I left in the original switch as my active low impedance guitars are uneffected by the loading. Passive guitars would benefit from true bypass especially if the input buffer is bypassed.
Rainy Day, Dream away, it talks now.

How much did all those parts cost? Are all those things available from digikey or mouser?Jim Williams wrote:Mine is a new model but tweaked up a bit. I've found some useful info here, when modding my old Vox. Probably more info than you will ever need, though!

Probably removing the input buffer, changing the inductor and transistors, and making a few resistor changes. There is a lot of info online for this studd at
