Hi,
I brought my Tascam 424 mkII out of hibernation. Unfortunately it irregularly clicks/pops while I'm recording to it. This was a problem before I put it away for many years. It doesn't matter which track I'm recording to. The heads have been cleaned and demagged. The pops get recorded.
Any ideas as to what's going on and if it's fixable? I can post recordings of the pops if it will help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If it happens on all tracks, I'm inclined to lean towards the common link: the power supply.

Oy, thanks Nate.
Too bad unlike the mkI and III the mkII has an internal power supply. This machine has a bit of sentimental value to me. If I were to get a part 424 do you think a repair is possible? I have about a 60% track record with a soldering gun--which is to say I'm pretty terrible.

I wouldn't use parts from an old machine as they're going to be the same age. It's probably just a matter of replacing the filter capacitors in the power supply section.
