What's goin' down at your place this week?

We finished up the John Prine interviews on Sunday. Today and tomorrow we are doing some studio maintenance, we modified the center section of our console and are wiring up a patchbay. Thursday we're hosting a label that is interested in signing the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, playing them their new record we just got back from mastering today. Saturday Good Luck Ola is finishing up their demo and I'm taking it by Oh Boy Records Sunday or Monday to see if they are interested in signing them.
Still waiting for a Luna reunion

Mixes and maintenance.
The outboard collection has outgrown the patchbay so I need to wire in a new patch strip.

At the station, we had our main studio's telephone hybrid system die on us just as the morning show was getting under way. That's sort of like taking off in an airplane and having one engine fall off.

Fortunately, we keep a spare unit in engineering, so I got to be everyone's hero this morning.

Mixing and trying to find some kind of deal on a flight to Chicago for the mastering session on Monday. Have a rehearsal on Thursday night and gigs Friday and Saturday night.

i'm having a ball mixing lyman's record. mitch easter just sent me a different mix of one of the shalini tunes, so ima master that tomorrow. at some point this week, whenever i get the files, i'm donating the mastering for a compilation record about karl rove. click that sucker, it's a pretty cool thing this guy's doing.

whoa that karl rove thing is crazy. a pretty brilliant idea.

man i'm just trying to get over this ridiculous wave of sickness i've had this year, and get the fluid out of my ears so i can hear properly again, so i can get back to focusing on some mixing. please wish me and my antibiotics luck!
the tape is rolling, the ones and zeros are... um... ones and zeroing.

"sky of diana"

i think he said something about the tambourine playing on that one being really shitty, so he had to redo it himself. :P

Finally mixing down to stereo the 12 song album I've been mixing in fits and starts for months. Still have to work out some automation and a couple odds and ends, but I hope to have that done before the weekend. Mixing and doing vocal overdubs for the band I play bass in, which is less work and more fun (I justify to myself).

This weekend, cleaning out the entire space and maybe starting prep for sealing the concrete floor.

I thought I was just going to be mixing tonight, but I ended up reamping some snare tracks. Never done it before and I would have much rather got it right the first time. That being said, hearing the result made me breathe a sigh of relief.

just finished 3 days of tracking a folk/country/jazz crossover kind of record for a band called 'Second Hand Pinups'... nice songs and an amazing female vocalist.

loaded in some drum stuff for the new ep i'm making with jojo mayer for our band nerve... a week to track and mix 4 songs, should be really fun. 100% artistic and sonic freedom. yay!
