Best Samples for Vintage Sounds
Hello. I can't afford a mellotron or vox but I'm looking for a halfway decent sampling program out there that can give me a range of fun vintage sounds to sprinkle on some recordings. I've found SampleTank but not sure that that'll do it right. I tend to run the samples through an amp and dirty them up a bit. Anybody have luck with any particular programs? thanks much.

If you're running pro tools you can download the light version of digidesign's sampler plug in for free. It's called Structure. I've been using it for the last year and have been pretty happy with it.
There are a large number of free samples formatted for Structure on the Air Users Blog - http://airusersblog.squarespace.com/ - you'll need to create an account to access them but it's free and has no junk e-mail attached.
You can also make your own samples very easily. I sampled my upright piano without much trouble at all.
