i'm looking at sperzel.
i'm also looking at grovers. but i have been told that sperzels are better than grovers. would love all opinions.

is this a retrofit or build?
if it is a retrofit, there are several brands to choose from.
for the fender ping replacements, the fender schallers are direct swap.
for non locking sperzel, locking sperzel(duh!)
for vintage fender kluson, gotoh makes them.
for gotoh individual and schaller mini, schaller makes some.

i have used the planet waves auto-trim ones and they are setup like the schaller mini with the screw hole directly underneath the tuner housing instead of offset.

gotoh used to make the magnum lock, but those are kinda a pain to chang strings on. i hate the planet waves ones, but the sperzel and schaller are great feeling. the schaller has a larger more positive feeling locking knurl button than the sperzel, but otherwise are very similar. it just comes down to style and original tuners if this is a retrofit.

I've had sperzels on all my electrics for about seven years now. Never had a problem with 'em. Love 'em. Recommend 'em.

I have both Sperzels and PW's on various guitars. I like the PWs better. I think that PWs are higher ratio and that suits my picky nature. :)

I think Sperzels are kind of heavy. I can feel them on the headstock.

Yip I put sperzels in nearly all my guitars and love them. However I had to make some modifications to do so, so I'd follow the list above if you want to be able to return the guitars to original shape eventually.

+1 on Planet Waves. I like the little thing that chops off the string. It means I don't have to carry wire cutters around to change strings, and I don't scrape my hands or cut my fingertips on those evil 1/4" string ends.
