Tascam 424 MIDI synchronization

Post by dccrocke » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:08 pm

I feel like this is going to sound really stupid, but I don't care. You can't see me.

I'm wondering whether it's possible to synchronize (using MIDI) 4 Tascam 424's together. I want to get 16 tracks without bouncing (so I can mix them all at once with a 16-channel mixer). I presume it wouldn't be that difficult to get everything recorded the right way (I could just listen to one unit while recording on another), but I'm thinking that the final step here (playing all 4 through a 16-channel mixer) will be more difficult.

Don't hesitate to tell me if all of this sounds idiotic/impossible.

Thanks,
Damon

No. There are tape machines that you can synchronize (using additional hardware), but that requires using 1 of your audio tracks for timecode, and the tape machine has to be capable of synchronizing, which I think the 424 is not.
