Identify this mic?

Post by Jon~T » Tue Mar 30, 2010 11:37 am

Hey guys
I got this mic really cheap, sounds pretty nice, very clean actually.

The only problem is I don't know what to call it. There is no logo or model # on it. If anyone could look through the pictures and identify the brand and model that would be great.

Pictures:

The info I know:
purchased 1 year ago at NAMM from a company that makes mics for custom branding
Large diaphragm Tube mic
Has a transformer
Multi-pattern, 10db pad, low cut

It doesn't seem to be a clone of anything.

Does not seem to be from these manufacturers
Alctron
MXL
Felio
Tiantuo
Nady
ADK
beijing797
ShuiYin
Thanks

scroll down about half way

looks like the 6801 is cardioid only, the 6802 is 9 position.

Having said that, the TNC mics had a TNC logo - so while it most likely came off the same assembly line it's probably not an official TNC.

Could it be a demo from the manufacturer to see if somebody (ie TNC) wanted to buy and brand them for the US? So technically it wouldn't have a name yet?

wow. That looks very close to it.
NICE

That looks like the kit it came in, I have that power supply, but I'm using an MXL PS-69 instead because the pattern switches are on the actual mic.

I asked the same question on Gearslutz and the typical GS useless answers.

Thank you good sir!
