Capturing a plugin chain

Post by wedge » Tue May 11, 2010 1:19 pm

Through the generosity of the Gods, I was able to construct an eight plugin chain on a vocal track that kicks ass. It's a unique sound, and I wanna be able to use it everywhere, including live. Anyone know of any technology that can capture a digital signal path "signature", thus making it portable? Or am I stuck sending the live vox through a latency-filled laptop/DAW setup?

Maybe a receptor

I'm not nearly 100% sure on this, but it might be worth researching the Muse Music Receptor. It's designed for playing back instrument plug-ins, but I don't doubt it could handle a vocal signal chain.

That might be the ticket, although I was hoping for something a little simpler, and less expensive...

Probably not any cheaper, but a uad2 is realtime, and you could probably recreate most any sound with their plugs on your laptop and a fast interface http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad/uad2sl/index.html

well, you could perhaps take notes?

or a quicker way would be to take a snapshot of it -your screen shown with settings and order -via mwsnap (p.c.) or grab (mac).

you could also save a template?

how about run an i.r. through it? ha ha
