Yes, the difference between the BAE 1073 and 1023 are the EQ points - and of course whatever circuitry they use to achieve them. If you're going as far as their 1073, jump up to the 1023. It's an instant classic.
BAE has changed some of their model numbers, so for the Dual 1272 you're now looking at the stereo 1073MP, still a two-stage design (one input stage and one output stage) like the 1272, but renamed to reflect their way of tweaking more gain and constant impedance out of them. I'd look at their website to be sure on this, as they're making all kinds of new stuff every time I look.
