Hearing better in one ear than the other?
I'm just having this today, usually my balance is okay, but it's got me sort of worried. Should I be?

It could just be mild congestion. Happens to me all the time because my sinuses are always a trainwreck.
Try whatever decongestant works for you (natural or otherwise); just don't go overboard.
If it's going on for a week or more, a trip to the ENT might be in order.

I am deaf in my left ear. (Not from loud music). I overcome this issue by mixing stereo mostly based on sight... then use headphones, flip them back and forth. listen once with left side, listen one with right side. I have gotten pretty good at "remembering" what the sound was like and determining if the balance is good. Besides, all things should should good in mono anyway HA HA. I've never had anyone complain about stereo image being off on the recordings I've done for them.
http://www.yourband.info great site to promote your band or music.
I found out I had one side stronger than the other in a mastering session years ago. I asked the engineer why he was panning things harder to one side and he of course said he wasn't, flipped it into mono and asked me where I heard the image. Suddenly I realized the problem was my hearing because the mono signal appeared to sit more to the left.
I pan by sight as well, although I usually have help from friends mixing anyway, so it's not such a big deal.
Sure did surprise me though.

I was taught a long time ago that a musician's left ear hears better than the right since listening to music is a right brain thing. My high school music teacher said to always tune with your left ear. Could be bs.
I hear equally crappy out of both.
