Recording Industry Poker Tournament 2010

Post by Reitzas » Mon Jul 12, 2010 12:48 pm

Hi All,
Tony gave me permission to post about the event below so please read on and hopefully you can join us. Thanks!

For those of you who haven't heard, last year I organized a recording industry poker tournament for our community (R.I.P.T.). I did it out of passion to have an excuse for us to spend a day face to face with each other instead of only communicating online. We also ended up raising a lot of money for a charity that teaches underpriveliged kids about music and recording (www.soundartla.org).
Sponsors liked the idea and they came out in a big way with the most incredible prizes for the tournament (see below).

This year we're doing it again at The Village Studios on August 1st, and we'd love for you to join us. Sponsors are signing on daily as we get closer to the date and we're looking to make this year even bigger and better than last year.

If you're interested, you can register on our website;
http://ri-pt.webs.com/
Sign up by July 16th to receive the "early registration" discount.

Hope to see you there!!

Best,
Dave Reitzas

P.S. Below are some links and lists of what we did last year just to give you an idea of what to expect this year. This week I'm going to do a preview video and I'll post the link once it's edited. Thanks!

Its a hell of a lot closer to "driving distance" for you than it is for me my friend!!!

FWIW, I had an absolute BLAST last year!!!

Got cleaned out on my first table by Al Schmitt, then sat down at one of the loser tables with Ed Cherney [who sucks at poker, but don't tell him I said that!!].

If I lived in IL... I'd make a fun thing out of it... plan 4-5 days and drive "historic Rte. 66" to Santa Monica... [lots of cheap motels along the way], then hang on the beach for a day, head over to The Village and have some fun hangin' with some really fun people for an afternoon.

I'm seriously bumming that I can't make it again this year... but I'm proud to say that TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik has ponied up a C-12 for the event [about $10k worth of mic, though generally available for around $8500 ish].

Shuffle up and deal!!!

Peace.

Well you guys will be there in spirit.

Please spread the word to anyone who wants to play. As you can see, with Telefunken's generous donation of a C-12, this year's fight to the finish is going to be intense. Thanks Fletcher!!!

I'm almost finished with the preview video for this year and I'll post the link as soon as it's up.

Best,
Dave
