I tested out the new MOTU MicroBook with Volta

Post by hiddendriveways » Sat Jul 24, 2010 9:57 pm

I had the chance this week to test out the new MOTU MicroBook with Volta. The MicroBook is a USB audio interface, and Volta is a plug-in that sends control voltage out of the outputs of an audio interface and into the CV inputs of an analog synth. I made a video of the test:

What's cool is that before the MicroBook was available, the least expensive interface that was compatible with Volta was the $550 MOTU Ultralite. In order to use Volta, the interface must have DC Coupled outputs. RME and MOTU are the only manufacturers that I know of who make interfaces with DC Coupled outputs. So now if you want to control some analog synths with Volta, you don't have to spend a ton of money to get a compatible interface.
