I like all of these suggestions . In my modest little set-up I've been using the KEL HM1 outside the resonant for some time now with an ATM25 inside. A very LARGE sound with the proper tuning on the kik , of course. A Studio Projects B3 also works quite well in this situation and you can use the fig. of 8 with a damped panel on the opposite side and move it near or far to sorta 'size' the roominess of the kik.

yea! i love LDC on kick. dynamics can be dark sounding, i always end up with a kick you can feel but not really hear when i close mic w/dynamic. not always what i want. i actually like to place the LDC more as a Front of Kit mic, a few feet away, and aimed just a few inches below the top lip of the kick drum shell.

I love this because it produces a nice balanced sound, and gets some cymbals and snare as well.
