Access privileges on old Mac hard drive

Post by bradfromtampa » Tue Sep 07, 2010 4:56 pm

I'm trying to pull some files off an old hard drive from my dead computer. I put the hard drive into another Mac, and when I try to go into my documents folder, it says I don't have the access privileges to open these folders.

Anyone have any idea how to get into these folders.

Select the folder you want access to, hit command+i, then go to 'sharing and permissions' (this is worded different in the various versions of OSX), add your user and give it read & write access. Then, using the 'gear' icon, select 'apply to enclosed items'.
