C414 Repair

Post by chasbenson » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:12 pm

Hi guys,
This is my first post (I am a long time lurker, I guess) Bwahahaha.

Just curious if anyone has an information on how to get a C414 EB P48 capsule from the early 80's...rebuilt. Or find a new one.

It is the less desirable (whatever, I like it) nylon/teflon capsule from the early 80's. I am a gear tech as my day job, but haven't dealt with mics much.

Thanks for looking!

Hi,

Sennheiser USA is the company that does all repairs on AKG mics, Sennheiser mics, and some other brands. Get in touch with them.

Cheers

Richard at Land Audio is good people.

Ugly website, but he'll do good work.

Richard Land is the only guy I'll let touch my AKG mics. Sending them back to AKG was a freaking nightmare that's well-documented around here. Richard is terrific!

Another +1. I had him work on my 414 a while ago. It was a difficult fix, in fact we never tracked down the source of the problem even after switching capsules. He ended up getting me a different mic for more or less the cost of repairs.

Richard Land it is. I figured just sending it to AKG was a bad idea.
