Really, I am very happy with the stillwell stuff. It sounds awesome on metal guitars.

on a recent project that I didnt record but did play on the engineer/producer put up 2 mics on each guitar and about a dozen on teh drum kit.
And it sounds flat and blurry.
I am really into using the least amount of mics possible on drums. When you have 10-12 mics that close together it is a recipe for disaster.
Right now I am trying to fix this mix with some of the aformentioned stillwell plugs. The newest version of his neve-alike eq now has a narrow switch. Which is great for trying to tame the peircing upper mids and muddy lower mids.
I feel so sorry for you, your mouse hand, and your ears.

Many microphones in the wrong hands can be devastating.

Admittedly we did record the band all at once in a smallish room. So close micing the crap out of the drums was the easy thing to do.

It was easy to get it recorded quickly...

Now, tell me, how long before you are done in the aftermath of this easy decision from the producer...?

I've heard that one a bunch.

I hope you do get to do the album.
