ID3 tag issues with mastering. help!

Post by spencerwalters » Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:18 am

I finished mastering my band's first EP. It's also my first time releasing a record. When I tried to write the ID3 tags by right clicking the song > properties > then change the contributing artist, song title, genre, etc... When I burned the cd and put it in another computer the song titles, artist name, genre, etc... was all gone. How do I fix this? Is there a certain program that I need?

ID3 tags can't be stored on CDs. They can be stored in MP3s and to a limited extent in other file formats, but not audio CDs.

Maybe you're thinking of the CDDB/FreeDB database, that recognizes audio CDs and shows metadata.

Yes, ^that^.

Also, some CD players will show "CD Text" when you insert a CD. Some burning software will write the CD Text. Some will not.
