apogee duet equivalent for pc?
i am going to put a computer in my analog room to mix down to.
i have a good enough pc, but i really want to use the apogee duet, but it only runs on mac.
i don't need anything midi related or any extras- just two analog ins.
i really like the apogee converters...
i guess my question is do i buy an imac or something (i can get an adequate machine used locally for 325),
or can someone recommend an equivalent unit for pc? i would want apogee or similar converters - no mbox type stuff.
?

I liked the NI Kontrol 1 a lot. It sounds good and has a basic control surface built in. I only sold mine to fund getting a Zoom H4N which also functions as an interface. Though strangely not at the same resolution as it does as a recorder?
I think the new MOTU book-whatevs might fit the bill.

The Duet is an mbox-type thing, especially when you factor in the new MBoxes that actually sound pretty darn good.
If you really dig the Apogee sound, grab a used Rosetta 200. That's really my best advice to you. Apogee has a sound that's fairly unique to them. However, if you're looking to a nice ADC in that price point, check out the RME Babyface or ADI-2. Or the Sound Devices USB Pre 2. All of the above are very clean sounding.
Masterlinks are very cool, but also discontinued, so support moving forward will get difficult...

The truth of a proposition has nothing to do with its credibility. And vice versa.

THIS is the closest thing you can get to an Apgogee Duet for Windows. Ships soon, like in a week or two.

I think they are going to run $750 or so.

musicians are fuckers, but even worse are people who like musicians, they're total fuckers.
