Unbalanced Snake

Post by UnlikeKurt » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:29 am

Hello all
i'm going to be making a snake soon for a board and tape machine with unbalanced connections (RCA & TS). I don't see any shielded unbalanced multipair cable at redco. So I assume I'm just going to use regular balanced cable? How should I wire it? Omit the - and just wire up the + and shield? Tie the - and shield together?

Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks
James

Check this thread and download the document indicated:

It should help, if you're into the minutia of cable wiring...

The "document indicated" is great for a lot of things, but really overkill and unnecessary in this case.

I don't think it much matters as long as the shield goes to the sleeve on both ends. I'd be inclined to tie the inside conductors together, but that's just me.
