Ariist song and album Meta tagging demo wavs and mp3s?

Post by touched1 » Sat Feb 05, 2011 11:57 am

I am curious what people are using to tag wav or mp3 files for circulation? I have files to share and hate the thought of them showing up in someone's itunes library with no info.

As I understand it, mp3's will embed the song info, but wav info is stored in the itunes db. Is this correct? I know waves store meta, but it's different from mp3 meta right?

I have itunes of course, and access to Soundminer. Itunes seems the simplest solution for tagging mp3s.

Somebody set me straight on this, thanks!

PS I am on a mac, but if there is a great PC solution, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Here's what I use:

Really good. No tagging for .wavs as they don't include the relevant metadata, as far as I know.

I use Stamp, though I think it's built into Windows Explorerer nowadays.

Thanks guys, I'll check those out.

On the Mac side, it still seems like iTunes is the easiest. Irritating because this means anything that I want to tag has to be added to the itunes library first.

I use the Pro Tools MP3 export option.
And if there is a need for even more detail, Logic's WaveBurner for CDs.
I have yet needed anything else.

Cheers
