We specialize in that older musicians crowd (45 : 65) ---- they usually have more money to spend on their projects and have been honing their skills for 30+ years,,,, also a lot less demanding :').

Little or no editing in the post work --- they are coming from a 4 track/ 60~70's recording world . Solo to Trio. It is a niche we have been working on since we turned 45 :-) ---- Most are going to be acoustic or electric direct :: really easy to handle even in the smallest of studios. THINK ~ no hours upon hours of post work .... they pay at the end of the days session for mainly tracking :-)

There is definitely something to be said for creating a little niche market for yourself, duly noted.

Maybe I should aim to specialise in a few types of music/aesthetics and age groups. I certainly don't want to be recording anyone younger than myself unless they are talented. I haven't got a problem with editing, but it just seems to fake to me. Kids coming in and wanting to sound better than they are just doesn't wash with me.

I never really record anyone younger -- (although just finished a 28 year old --doing country pop ) mainly because I am not at all familiar with the new music > and have no idea how to obtain the styles ~ they would be requesting. Pretty much straight forward recording is my forte. :::: This chop that ..move this.. voice pitching..etc :: is too time consuming & not profitable in my market. I listen for talent --capture it and track/mix to the extent of our 40 year skills,,,,
