I hope this hasn't been posted here before, but even if it has, it's worth another visit...

Frank in the studio, no cans, and you could probably cut the pressure behind the glass with a Swiss army knife....

Here ya go...

What's the mic?
A Beyer ribbon??

Here's another. I think this is Columbia. Lee Hazlewood at the controls, Billy Strange conducting. It's from the Nancy Sinatra TV special "Movin With Nancy".

What's the mic?
Someone in the comments said AKG D24, which looks to be right, and could possibly the first time a Youtube comment has contained useful information.

4:24 in the video has a sort of close-up shot, looks like it...

Awesome video.

I love how right after the take is done, it's done. When they listen to the playback there was nothing left to be done. An engineer's work was all done well before take one.

I'm curious what they're using for reverb in 'Good Year' Is it that cabinet under wraps near the audience?

Great video. It's always cool to see some of the greats at work.
I make a living as an electrician, not recording in the basement.

I'm pretty sure it's a chamber. UW had one of the best echo chambers around (you can hear it on Pet Sounds, Ray Charles Georgia On My Mind, and a million other hits of the era).

Yep, live mix to two-track.

And if you listen to 'Sketches of Spain' by Miles Davis, you'll still wish they turned that damn snare drum down...I do everytime I listen to it.

Wasn't Pet Sounds done on 4-track in the same studio? Must have been within months of that recording. Not that they would have used that new fangled four-track, who knows what could go wrong.
