I assume this would be a better buy used compared to something from presonus or focusrite in the $400-500 range?

I want an interface with 8 ins for my mini Mac and saw one of these used. I was going to get one of my 828's modded and just have the two pre's, but for just a little more it seems I could get 8 modded inputs.

Any thoughts? Am I too vague?

Scratch the idea for the 896..... What are some suggestions for an 8 pre firewire interface. I'd like a 1/2 rack unit, prosumer as well. It's just for me to have fun with at the house.

Also have the option of modding my 828, and the maybe using next year's tax return to fund something else if wanted...
