Advertising is awesome

Post by joel hamilton » Tue May 10, 2011 5:49 am

Statements like this one really make me wish that people would stop reading ads and then regurgitating quasi-facts on the interwebs.

"Professional Amp Modeling Software
Close is not enough. All of the pretty GUI's and presets in the world aren't going to make your amp-modeling software sound like a real amp. It takes a lot more than ones and zeros to make your computer come alive with lifelike amp tone. It takes a real amplifier company."

I especially love "it takes a lot more than ones and zeroes to make your computer come alive"....

So awesome.

This is true; everyone knows it takes a bolt of lightning to make any sort of robotic monster come to life. Wait, what are we talking about?

I mean honestly, if they want me to worship their *genius* programming language, then show it to me.

It takes a evil mad scientist with an burly, tattooed and uncharismatic assistant to take a photo of an amplifier (lamentably one with a big tear in the tolex) on a stormy night with a lot of lightning to power the laptops running the compiler. See also: rocky horror picture show.

Peter Frampton was able to make himself come alive. But that's another story...

All I know is that if the ad has a picture of either a wizard or a woman riding a tiger singing into an unplugged microphone, I'm reaching for my wallet.

Where'd they find a singing tiger anyway?

And it would have to be a USB mic, no?

Consistency is everything.

Isn't this essentially UAD's philosophy as well? What with their elegant PCIe dongle and all?

I have to disagree, there's more there than just an elegant dongle :) Now, the line six unit I have, is just that , though the quality of effects package with it, are mostly excellent, and buying a little at a time on sale, it, the UAD cards and a TC card, makes what I've spent on waves look like a total waste of capital.

I'm guessing somewhere in Romania.
