so I half normaled the first 10 channels. I not normaled the next 5 columns for patching in the drum snake when needed.
when I break the half normal on channel 1 and feed it to drum snake 1 the cable tester returns this:
instead of this:
what am I doing wrong? any ideas? I'm sure this is not the normal reading, right? it should always look like the top figure as far as my current knowledge tells me...
why might this patch bay not be working as expected?

Probably a bad cable or bad solder on channel 1. Is it just channel one? Looks like the cable is shorted. I mean it could be the patchbay itself, but if you haven't checked the cables I would do that first.
Or if channel two works properly, plug those cables into 1 and see what happens. If it works, its cables - if it still shows wierdness at least you have narrowed it down to the patchbay.

i'm going to investigate more when I get home from work. it appears the first channel of the snake is bad. I'm not using 21-24 though so I could just remove the bad channel...ashcat_lt wrote:The patchbay and everything connected to it is balanced and all cables involved are XLR or TRS?
