The Radiator or Wavelens diffusors.

Post by Sculli » Sat Jul 02, 2011 8:40 am

Was just curious if anyone has used these or made their own. Really don't want to kill the room with absorption. Thanks for all input! http://www.primacoustic.com/radiator.htm

Those look cool. But maybe you didn't see that the last issue of T.O. had a DIY diffuser-build in it?

Also, I've been wondering about crazy, inexpensive ideas like Home Depot shutters or furnace filters, and their possible application as diffusers...

I have those BBC diffusors on the walls. Need to treat the ceiling. I'm guessing noone has used these yet. Hoping for some reviews soon. Louvers are bloody expensive! But I think they probably work well.

The key with absorption is to selectively apply it.... too much and you will deaden the room... not good. For most DIYers this happens with bass trapping, if you have broadband absorption in every corner and then do a RFZ things will be pretty dead at that point.

Personally I prefer absorption on ceilings, unless you have tall (15' or more) ceilings then diffusion can work.

So I had 10 of these made. For about 40 bucks more than 2 of the commercial brands.
Can't seem to find any detailed placement instructions anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater

I'm not sure if you're around anymore, but how did these work out?
