Yamaha PM1000 racking needed! anyone interested? free strips
I have a 32 channel Pm1k just gathering dust. Id like to have some of these racked up by somebody who knows what they are doing. Id be willing to pay for the parts/expenses/shipping if someone would take some strips for their bench time.....and since i have 32 of them that shouldn't be a problem. Im very reasonable. Most of the rackings ive found on the interweb are so feature laden......i don't need any of that crap.....i don't need phantom power, i don't need a front panel DI, the only thing id like is for the EQ to be switchable in/out and some output transformers (which i have).
If anyone is interested, or just wants to make fun of me, please ....lets have it.

Tom Gruning racks PM1000s among other things.
I just got a pair of Ward Beck pres that he did a beautiful job on.

It seems like he swaps out all the knobs and such....again, i wouldn't need anything that fancy....plus i kinda like the knobs the strips have on them....sorta willy wonka

I am actually finishing up sourcing parts for racking two of these pm1000 strips into a par-metal 2U aluminum chassis with a Power-One 48V, 0.5 A Linear supply,
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 09&x=0&y=0
I already have the chassis and power supply, just finishing up the mouser BOM for recapping some of the electrolytics with higher values to extend the low frequency response, also changing the ouput cap to a higher capacitance 470 uf Panasonic FM electrolytic cap from a 33 uf tantalum, replacing some tantalums with Wima polyester film caps, and adding .01 uf Wima polyester film shunting capacitors across every electrolytic and tantalum and on the power supply bypass caps.
I am adding phantom power and a pad as well as a DI jack and using the output transformers so am also buying switches, jacks and some other connectors for mine. Also looking into using an LM317 voltage regulator circuit to regulate down to 44V instead of the series diodes method of lowering.
There's plenty of info on here, gearslutz and prodigy-pro about simple methods of racking them up if you're interested in doing it yourself. Otherwise if you'd like I can show you how mine turn out when I'm finished, i'll be documenting the process anyway, and maybe build up some more for you. I can PM you the BOM if you'd like as well.

Gruning looks great! Also check out www.natedort.com and www.operationaudio.com These guys do amazing work for cheap! They may do a trade! Either way, tell em' Joe Diliberto sent you...I've used them for all my mods and they always steer me right!
Working on music with Pete from Porno for Pyros...
I've racked a bunch of PM1000 channels, but I'm in the middle of a move to Butte, MT at the moment, so it's going to be a while before I get my bench up and running there. Probably at least 2 months.strdsk wrote:Also check out www.natedort.com
