+1 on the Sansa posts above. I have the Fuze, it's probalby 2-3 years old now. Plays all the file formats I need -- and yes I listen to FLAC regularly. Sounds the same as CD to me. Mine has 8GB on board, with another 8GB card in it for 16GB total, everything cost me about $100 at the time if I remember correctly.

I'd take this over an iPod any day of the week, twice on sundays, uphill both ways, etc.

OK. You guys doing Cowan/Sansa into the car stereo via stereo 3.5mm cable? Does that sound good?

I'm currently doing iDevice via lineout. The head unit controls iTunes pretty well, and charges the device too. My other input options are USB and 3.5mm jack. Haven't tried those yet.
