Looking for a mastering engineer to start a pro relationship

Post by StudioChris37 » Mon Sep 26, 2011 2:36 pm

Hey All
After having been boned by many a mastering engineer in the past, im looking for someone with reasonable rates and who is REALIABLE to send pretty much all my work to. I hate mastering and im pretty sure i suck at it so, lets make a deal. Before and after samples of work would be great to hear, and of course, rates. My clients tend to digest "Per Song" rates a bit easier than hourly because i am in Orlando, and "my friend graduated from fullsail and he said he'd do it for free"

So any idea or pointers would be great. THANKS!

Chris

Tom Ruff at Asbury Media in NJ does excellent work and is extremely easy to work with. His rates are also way low for the quality of work.

$35/song. i love mastering and i'm pretty sure i'm good at it. i'm more than happy to do a test master on one song so you can decide whether or not i'm boning you.

I'm sure I'll just be the first of many to +1 this, but I can highly recommend Old Colony Mastering here. I've used mastering engineers that cost thousands of dollars and a bunch of the other well respected engineers in the reasonably priced range and I've never been happier with the end results than I have been with Scott, and he's been nothing but a pleasure to deal with.

+2. Scott is justifiably very well-recommended round these parts.

I send all my mastering to Massive Mastering www.massivemastering.com

The rates are reasonable, John is great to work with, he has top notch equipment and an ear to match.

Carl Saff.

I send all my projects there (if they're getting mastered). Has yet to provide anything but amazing service, and outstanding results. Can't recommend him enough.

+1 for Carl Saff. Did amazing things with my band's EP. Patient and reasonably priced.

+2 for Carl. He's great to work with, has great prices, TONS of experience, and most importantly does great work. He's pretty much the go to guy here in Chicago if you can't afford Bob Weston.

I've had excellent results with both Carl Saff http://saffmastering.com/ and Scott Craggs http://oldcolonymastering.com/index.html

I have had nothing but great experiences with Jay Frigoletto. I have not had any experiences with Scott, but I have had him recommended by people I trust a few times.

Good luck

Another +1 for Scott. He really took some extra time to make it exactly how I wanted it. I too have had bad mastering experiences & Scott does a great job at a price your clients will like.
