"Build Your Own Reamp Box" by Scott Dorsey

It would be awesome to reamp on the cheap, anyone ever tried this? How much does it cost in the end? Is there somewhere I can find a parts list? Would anyone recommend using a better transformer?

There is a parts list (with prices) right on the article you linked to.
Looks like a cool project. Scott Dorsey is one of the few people on the net I'd trust without hesitation. For the $60 or so it should cost (according to his parts list) to build it I think I'm gonna do it. You could actually find a cheaper box, jacks, switch, knob, etc. without too much trouble.
Spending money on a more costly transformer probably won't get you too much. It's a 1:1 transformer so, as he says in the article, manufacturing a good one for a decent price isn't too hard. I'd probably just buy the exact one he suggests since I know he knows more about it than I do.

I built one reamp and bought the parts for another. I followed the "New York Dave" schematic/wiring diagram. (I'm pretty sure it was NYD, I don't have the stuff in front of me.) And it was pretty cheap, easy and decent sounding. I ordered Edcor transformers and I think I had most of the other parts already.

if you want a cheap box to put it in, get a single-gang steel electrical box from home depot and a screw-on cover for it. that's what i used.

Whoah, serendipity! I just taped a video and made a post about a really simple DIY reamp design yesterday.
