8 Channel D/A Converter with S/MUX

Post by j.welch » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:19 pm

Evening Tape Op-ers,

So I'm on the hunt for another bit of kit... I want/need a simple 8-Channel D/A converter with S/MUX capable ADAT inputs. Basically something like the brilliant Aphex 141, but with S/MUX. I'm moving all my gear around and looking at getting an RME Fireface 800 and I want to have the possibility of recording at 88.2kHz+ and obviously I won't be able to use the Aphex 141 on the outputs while doing this because it can only run at 44.1/48kHz.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Best,
James

I have an older version of the RME ADI-8 that is supposed to do SMUX (I only have ADAT on my Digi 002r though). The latest version does also.

I would like to test drive one of the RME UFX some day. Looks like a great unit. My only concern is that my Digi 002r is Black Lion modded so it sounds pretty darn good...

The Lynx Aurora8 with the LT-ADAT card will do exactly what you want.
