I was just offered one of these from a guy i know. I dont believe it has the dbx unit. Whats a good price? It's nearly mint. Also is this machine worth it?

Is it "worth" it? Well,

Does "nearly mint" mean it actually work to it's specifications?
Does it include a service manual?
Do you have the reference tapes and test equipment to calibrate and maintain it?
Are you experienced with analog machines or would this be your "first time"?
Do you understand the limitations and "mojo" of the machine and the format?

If it's in perfect operating condition with reasonable life left on the heads and you have the support gear to keep it in shape, I'd say $300 - $400 would be a fair price.

You could find a 4 track Ampex 440 for almost the same price.
It's physically bigger and would double your tape costs since it uses 1/2" instead of 1/4", but it's performance would surpass a Teac 3440 in every way.

I have a Behringer SNR Denoiser Noise Reduction unit ( stereo) for sale that will help you when tracking stereo/dual mono sources as it's single ended..Works decent for mixing down if you don't have a noise reduction unit..PM me if interested..

Nice hes willing to sell it for $150! With all the calibration tapes a pile of replacement belts and an alignment lesion! Plus he said he'll service it in the future if needed! Score!
