RCA Ribbon Stand Adapter????
RCA Ribbon Stand Adapter????
Just scored a sweet old RCA 74B ribbon mic like this one.
It doesn't have the little adapter inert to step the threads down to normal mic stand size. I found the part at Big DMC, but they are $25!!
AEA has the 5/8?-27F to 1/2?M Pipe Thread Adapter (RCA Style) for $24.00.
Anyone know where I can get one for a reasonable price or if anyone else carries them? What have others done to obtain them?

Re: RCA Ribbon Stand Adapter????
Hi. I have a few old mics that require the same adapter. I got a couple from Clarence Kane at Enak mic repair, but they also cost about $25. I know a guy who has access to a machine shop and I'm hoping to get a bunch made, but I'm don't know yet how much he would charge. There's not much to making them, it just takes the right equipment and a bit of technician time. There isn't likely to be a huge volume on that sort of thing, so the per unit price could be high.Derrick wrote:Just scored a sweet old RCA 74B ribbon mic like this one.

Anyhow, if I can get some made I'll keep you posted. If there's a lot of interest here, maybe I can get a large batch made at a decent cost. No promises yet though .

Would you be interested in a couple if I can get them? What do you think would be the most you'd pay for one? The greater quantity I can have them make, the cheaper per each. If I only get a few, it might not be any cheaper than what is available.Derrick wrote:Thanks Kevin. Well, I was hoping there was an alternative to the $25 ones, but so far nobody's said anything to the contrary. Sigh....
For that matter, anybody else need some?
