recommendations wanted: books on room acoustics & treatm

Post by groover » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:10 pm

I'm looking for recommendations for books about room acoustics and treatment.
If you have seen web pages that seem really good I'll take those links, too.

Thanks

F Alton Everest's "Master Handbook of Acoustics".

Some things you need to get like six or seven or a hundred books to read and digest to fully appreciate.

This isn't like that. If you read and understand Everest's book, you'll be in very good shape.

Rod Gervais' "Home Recording Studio: Build it Like the Pros" - http://www.amazon.com/Home-Recording-St ... b_title_bk

I have the first edition, great sections on room testing & treatments including DIY treatment methods,
as well as covering every aspect of construction for professional results. Definitely recommend buying this one.

I'd like to recommend the Philip Newell books, published by Focal. There's a volume about studios, and another about control rooms.

He brings some coherent science to the party. He's also fanatical about the stuff he truly believes in, which turns some people off, though he goes into great depth to explain his reasoning.
"What fer?"
"Cat fur, to make kitten britches."
