I was going to say desert island item for me would be the Yamaha QY-20 and a ton of AAs (dated sounds, sure, but easy to bash ideas out), but the Monotron looks awesome!

It depends on whether you want the clear-voiced farm girl sound, or the whiskey-rasp and slightly off-key but sultry Monroesque starlet sound.

I;d go for a couple of young and very pretty local Islanders ladies:)
and then I can sing songs for them all the time:)

but seriously - mpc/akai and headphone and you can make music,
and I am basically trained guitar player, but mpc is a production tool, which never be replaced by any software...imho
