1/2" 8 track in Chicago?

Post by Theo_Karon » Thu Jan 26, 2012 1:01 pm

This is maybe not the most appropriate forum for this post, but it seemed better suited than the buy/sell/trade forum.

I'm working on a record with this amazing band called Pillars and Tongues right now. We've made a bunch of 8-track tape loops that are the basis for several songs, but unfortunately RIGHT as we were about to start recording the first one, the capstan motor on my machine crapped out. The timing was pretty phenomenal, actually- had the first loop up on the machine, stereo delay, sounding good, then I press record on the other deck and it starts to sound like a plane going down.

Anyhow, I'm hoping someone in the Chicago area might be able to lend us a 1/2" 8 track that can do 15 IPS for just a couple of days. I've taken my machine to the shop, but it's going to be at least a couple of weeks before it's ready, and this record needs to be finished before then. Any help would be greatly appreciated- there's not much of a budget for this record, but the band will give anyone who can help out copies of their entire discography on vinyl and CD. You can hear some of their music here: http://www.facebook.com/pillarsandtongues

Thanks for reading!
Everything is going to be OK.
